In the late nineties the dominance in the New Media Art by the
West was broken.An important contribution to this came from the
rapidly growing interesting productions from countries like South
Korea and China. India came in this international arena in the
mid nineties with video installations by Nalini Malani
and Vivan
Sundaram. Today there are many more artists in India, especially
in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Calcutta experimenting with
the new media. This special exhibition will be devoted to a selection
of the new media art by Nalini Malani. After receiving international
acclaim in Fukuoka, Amsterdam, London and Singapore two of her
latest works are on view for the first time in India at the Apeejay
Media Gallery on March 17, 2002.
